OMG 2, starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, has earned a total of ₹55.17 crore in India in its first four days. The film earned ₹12.06 crore on its fourth day, which is more than its opening day collection of ₹10 crore. The film is expected to earn another ₹20 crore on its fifth day, taking its total collection to ₹75 crore.
OMG 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 film OMG – Oh My God!, which also starred Kumar. The film touches upon various issues of teenagers and the importance of sex education. It has been produced by Viacom18 Studios, Cape of Good Films and Wakaoo.
The film was initially put on hold by the censor board due to its religious theme, but it was later passed with an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate. However, several cinema-goers have said that the film deserves a U/A certificate.
The weekend of August 11-13 marked a triumphant return to the big screens for Indian cinema. The combined box office across India stood at over ₹390 crore for the weekend, which was the highest number in the history of Indian cinema.
